Ubiqua Sniffer with CC2531
In this document we explain how to use the Texas Instruments CC2531 dongle to be able to sniff an IEEE 802.15.4 network using the Ubiqua Sniffer API implemtation.
Requirements
- TI CC2531 USB Dongle
- Ubiqua Sniffer for CC2531 binary file
- External debugger: CC Debugger or SmartRF05EB
- Texas Instruments SmartRF Flash Programmer 1
Flashing the CC2531
Once SmartRF Flash Programmer is installed and the firmware binary has been downloaded, proceed to connect the debugger:
- Setup using SmartRF05
- Setup using CC Debugger
Once the debugger is connected, run TI SmartRF flash programmer tool. The debugger should be displayed in the debugger tools available (1). If the debugger is not displayed flip the cable on the CC2531. CC Debugger reset button may need to be pressed multiple times in order to detect the CC2531, press it after connecting/flipping the cable to check if it is connected properly, its the CC Debugger LED must turn green.
In the Flash Image section (2) select the path to the binary firmware file, ensure that ‘Erase, program and verify’ is selected in Actions section (3), then press perform ‘Perform actions’ (4).
